Hello! I’m Josh a CIR working for the Hokkaido Government in Sapporo, and the Prefectural Advisor for Hokkaido JETs. I’m in my third year on the JET Programme, but I spent my first two years living in Iwamizawa in the Sorachi subprefecture and working in several senior high schools and special needs schools as an ALT.
I’m from England in the United Kingdom. I grew up in fairly quiet area called the Wirral, a peninsula between Liverpool and North Wales. I enjoy reading, particularly fantasy books, and since coming to Japan have started playing badminton and running. Before coming to Japan I spent a year and a half in China, unfortunately during the coronavirus pandemic. With all of the lockdowns and restrictions, I struggled to get settled in and make friends. My time in Hokkaido has been much better!
As a PA, it’s my job to support the over 300 JETs living in Hokkaido. I know what it’s like to feel isolated, lonely, and unsure in a foreign country, so please feel free to get in touch with me if there’s anything troubling you!
