Welcome to the East! This year, we’ll be camping at beautiful Lake Akan—home of the marimo algae balls and Ainu cultural center! 🦌
Located in Akan Mashu National Park, Lake Akan is renowned for its clear, cool water and hot onsen baths. ♨️ Visitors can climb nearby Mount Meakan or Mount Oakan, walk the path around the lake, take a ferry to the island at its center (and check out the marimo algae balls along the way), or simply enjoy the events taking place at the local Ainu Kotan, or village. With so much to do AND so much to eat, there’s something at Lake Akan for everyone! 🤗
